Here is a schedule I designed for a Film Festival featuring the French New Wave genre of the 50s and 60s. It functions as a poster that can be cut and folded down into a brochure.
In this project, I reinterpret the visual identity for the Institute for Figuring (IFF), a non-profit organization located in LA’s Chinatown, which is dedicated to the poetic and aesthetic dimensions of science, mathematics, and physics.
IFF brings physics theory to the public via exhibitions, workshops, and lectures. My goal was to transmediate the new identity across multiple platforms, from print, to interactive, to spatial. I began by creating a new logo, a modular mark that references the grid of the x-y axis, to form a lowercase “i” and capital “F”. From there, I built a graphic language around the concepts related to my research of the organization.
My research led me to explore the connection between physics and origami — how folding mechanisms can be applied to engineering for space travel or computer science. I studied the patterns left on the paper of unfolded origami animals and found a grid system around which I could design a new typeface, one I call Orimoji (fold-letter). I used this system to then create spatial models that would provide a structure for workshops and lectures for the event called FOLD.
This is a piece I designed out of frustration over tuning the 18-string instrument, the sitar. I researched the Indian names for each note, each string, and found their equivalent notes on a 6 string guitar. The solution shows how if you can tune a guitar, then you can tune a sitar, and vice versa.
The piece operates as a bridge between East and West, to help viewers from either hemisphere translate the tuning of their respective instrument in order to understand the other.
This is an identity design project for a Nanotechnology Conference I’ve named Nano Now. I began with the logo, a mark that references the graphic signifier for a numerical exponent, a nanometer being one billionth of a meter. After the logo, I built a graphic language that references the idea of magnification. The title font looks pixelated, as if one had zoomed-in on the words themselves. Imagery overlays a close-up shot over a wide view.

In this project I reinterpret the brand identity for the music equipment company, Guitar Center. Part of this process was to transform the Guitar Center retail experience into an environment where local musicians can more conveniently collaborate and interact. This led to re-naming the company GC Garage, a reference to a typical practice space / workshop environment of its target audience, independent musicians. The logomark relates to an abstracted sound-wave, a theme that is repeated as a graphic element on collateral like labels, posters, and price tags.

3. "Sound Undulations," a visual representation of the wave-forms of sound.
The Earth naturally produces heat beneath the surface that can be harnessed to produce clean and renewable electricity, in a process known as geothermal energy production. This is an infographic piece I designed to illustrate how the world’s total energy consumption relates to geothermal energy production. The concentric, circular forms relate to the idea of drilling down into the earth to reach geothermal heat.
The key revelation from this infographic shows how Iceland is the only country whose carbon-based energy comes secondary to renewable energy. Further, it is the only country whose geothermal consumption surpasses usage of all other renewables combined. Therefore, Iceland exists as a working model for how a country can self-sufficiently run on renewable energy sources.
